Description: Designs and technical studies required for the construction of a footbridge over the Guiza River in the indigenous Awa community of El Diviso in the municipality of Barbacoas, department of Nariño.

The project location required a bridge to connect with rural districts, mainly the indigenous Awa settlements. The construction of this footbridge will also enable safe transit and improve the indigenous community’s economic activities with municipal districts. The following activities were performed: topographic survey, hydraulic design, geotechnical studies and structural design.

Footbridge in the municipality of Ricaurte

Description: Designs and technical studies required for the construction of the footbridge over the lower Nembi River in the municipality of Ricaurte, department of Nariño. This bridge is located in a rural area and it has a steel structure. It is approximately 58 m long and its deck is 2.55 m wide.

The following activities were performed: topographic and bathymetric surveys, sampling in the field and laboratory tests, geotechnical study for bridges, structural design for bridges, hydraulic, hydrologic and scour studies.

Vehicular bridge over the Garagoa River

Description: Designs and technical studies required for the construction of the vehicular bridge over the Garagoa River linking the municipalities of Chinavita and Pachavita. This is a concrete bridge in a rural area that is difficult to access. It is approximately 38 m long with a lane width of 3.50 m and a footway on only one side of 1.80 m.

The following activities were performed: topographic and bathymetric surveys, geometric pre-design, sampling in the field and laboratory tests, geotechnical study for bridges, structural design for bridges, hydraulic, hydrologic and scour studies.

Vehicular bridge over the Moniquirá River

Description: Designs and technical studies required for the construction of the vehicular bridge over the Moniquirá River linking the centre of the municipality with the district of Aurora over road 4 with street 17.

This is a concrete bridge in an urban area. It is approximately 35 m long with a lane width of 5 m and a footway on only one side of 1.50 m.

The following activities were performed: topographic and bathymetric surveys, geometrical pre-design, sampling in the field and laboratory tests, geotechnical study for bridges, structural design for bridges, hydraulic, hydrologic and scour studies.

Overhaul and improvement of the Astilleros – Aguálasal and Santa Rosa – El Empalme road sections

Description: Studies and designs for the overhaul and improvement of the Astilleros – Aguálasal (8.5 km) and Santa Rosa – El Empalme (7 km) road sections, department of Norte de Santander.

Detailed engineering studies and designs to improve 15.6 km of the Astilleros – Tibú road; study of the feasibility of constructing the road to the minimum specifications outlined in Law 105 of 1993.

The following activities were performed: topographic survey, geometrical design, pavement design, hydraulic design, transit studies and laboratory tests.

Urban road in La Independencia

Description: Designs and technical studies required for the construction of the urban road section in highway 60B between diagonals 9A and 8 in the urban part of La Independencia district of the municipality of Buenaventura in the department of Valle del Cauca.. The length was 94 m.

The following activities were performed: topographic survey, sampling in the field and laboratory tests, geometric design and designs for the pavement structure, recommendation for upgrading networks and inventory of public utilities networks, road drainage and observations on the box culvert in the bottom section.

Urban road in the municipality of Dagua

Description: Designs and technical studies required for the construction of the urban road section in highway 8 between streets 7 and 8, in the Queremal subdistrict in the municipality of Dagua. The length was 84 m.

The following activities were performed: topographic survey, sampling in the field and laboratory tests, geometric design and designs for the pavement structure, inventory of public utilities networks and studies of road drainage.

Footbridge in the Lorena Alta, Lorena Baja and Platanillal sector

Description: The site visited required a bridge to connect with rural districts, mainly the settlements of Platanillal, Lorena Alta and Lorena Baja, Potosí, La Flor and La Floresta. The construction of this footbridge will also enable safe transit and improve the economic activities of the community.

Overhaul and improvement of the Sáchica – La Candelaria road section

Year: 2013 – 2014
Description: Studies and designs for the overhaul and improvement of the Sáchica – La Candelaria road section (14 km), Department of Boyacá.

The purpose of this project is to encourage tourism in these two municipalities and to link them by creating an alternative road that can be used to reach Cundinamarca from Sáchica.

The following activities were performed: topographic survey, geometric design, pavement design, hydraulic design, transit studies and laboratory tests.
