On Tuesday, October 16, BAC organized the discussion panel “The restructuring of the city and the territory” in the Roca Barcelona Gallery.

The event, moderated by Lluís Moya, Building Engineering General Manager of BAC, was attended by:

  • Joan Clos i Matheu: Mayor of Barcelona (1997-2006), Minister of Industry, Tourism and Commerce (2006-2008), Ambassador of Spain in Turkey (2008-2010) and Executive Director of UN-Habitat (2010-2018).
  • Enric Batlle i Durany: PhD. Architect and landscaper, Founder of the firm Batlle i Roig
  • Patxi Mangado: Founding Architect of Mangado & Asociados SL.
  • Manuel Valdés: PhD in Civil Engineering, Deputy Manager of Infrastructure and Urban Coordination of Barcelona City Council.

The closing of the event was in charge of Mr. Agustí Serra i Monté, Secretary of Urban Habitat of the Department of Territory and Sustainability of the Generalitat de Catalunya.

During the event, we were able to know different points of view raised by each of the speakers, arriving at a common conclusion: The analysis of the city evolution have to include as much sectors as possible from society since the conception as an isolated political element is no longer valid, and the mix and addition of isolated elements constitute a supra element as a metropolis. In order to materialize it, it is essential to properly manage the public space, taking as a reference the development and practice of the new connectivity systems as well as public and private transport modes”.
