BAC SOCOTEC in the Site Supervision of the L9

Guillem Baraut, CEO of BAC SOCOTEC, Jordi Rosich, General Director of Civil Engineering, and Ferran Biosca, Construction Manager of L9, attended the commissioning of the tunnel boring machine for L9 of the Barcelona Metro, which will connect La Sagrera with Zona Universitaria.

The commissioning of the tunnel boring machine was presided over by Jordi Puingneró, Vice President and Minister of Digital Policies and Territory of the Generalitat de Catalunya, and Janet Sanz, Second Deputy Mayor and Director of Ecology, Urbanism, Infrastructures and Mobility of the Barcelona City Council, Mr. Ricard Font, Secretary General of the Barcelona City Council, and Mr. Ricard Font, Secretary General of the Barcelona City Council. Ricard Font, Secretary General of the Department of the Vice-Presidency and Digital Policies and Territory of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Mr. Miquel Buch, President of IFERCAT and Mr. David Prat, General Director of Mobility Infrastructures of the Generalitat de Catalunya.

BAC SOCOTEC, together with TPF Getinsa Euroestudios and Tunelconsult, are in charge of the Site Supervision of the L9, the most important civil engineering works in Catalonia in the last 20 years. The Generalitat will invest 926 million euros in this section and expects the tunnel works to be completed in 2027.

The tunnel boring machine that has resumed drilling work is located 220 meters from the future Manuel Girona station and is heading towards Lesseps station, with the aim of boring 4.2 kilometers. The machine is 100 meters long and 12 meters in diameter is equipped with more than 300 cutting tools, one of the main features of this TBM is that it maintains the proper pressure of the excavation front and installs the final lining of the tunnel as it progresses.
