The president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Ximo Puig; the mayor of Valencia, Joan Ribó, and the president of the "la Caixa" Foundation, Isidro Fainé, have inaugurated the CaixaForum València, a project that has counted with the participation of BAC SOCOTEC.
BAC has been responsible for the design and site supervision of the structure of the new cultural space located in the Agora of the City of Arts and Sciences.
The team led by Enric Ruiz-Geli was made up of Cloud 9, ON-a Arquitectes, JG Ingenieros, Àrdevols i associats and BAC SOCOTEC.
Enric Ruiz-Geli described the architectural project as “radically sustainable”. This is demonstrated by the choice of materials, the pioneering air-conditioning of the exhibition rooms and the landscaped roof of the restaurant, to name just a few examples.
Environmental awareness also permeates the permanent works of this center, such as the Arc al cel, which invites reflection on ecology, and the Palafit, which reminds us of the value of water and aquatic ecosystems.
The new CaixaForum will have nearly 10,000 square meters, including a family and educational space called La Nube, two exhibition halls, an auditorium with capacity for 300 people, a bookstore and a restaurant.
