Geotechnical borehole for the integration of the railway in St. Feliu de Llobregat

The Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, Raquel Sánchez, has visited the geotechnical borehole that Bac i Ventayol Geoserveis drills in Sant Feliu de Llobregat for Acciona.

The Minister has been accompanied by Teresa Cunillera, Government Delegate in Catalonia; Lidia Muñoz, Mayor of Sant Feliu de Llobregat, and Isabel Pardo de Vera, president of ADIF, as well as other authorities.

The Railway Integration project in Sant Feliu de Llobregat involves burying the track in a 1.9 km section, of which about 1 km consists of a mine tunnel under the current route, with a maximum depth of 24.6 m under the surface. The construction of a new underground railway station is also contemplated, and logically the suppression of the existing level crossing, which has been the source of numerous accidents in the past.

Bac i Ventayol Geoserveis drills 7 geotechnical borehole at depths between 25 and 35 m, with the execution of permeability tests, and the performance of precision pressure tests. This test is programmed in advance, and then it is fully controlled by the GeoBox computer equipment, although the specialist geologist has full control of the process at all times. It is a Ménard type equipment, which can reach pressures of 100 kg / cm2.

The main objective of the campaign is to accurately determine the resistance and softening parameters –strain softening- of a layer of low resistance silts detected in previous campaigns.
