The new Gran Vía station of the Madrid Metro has been inaugurated

BAC has been the company in charge of controlling the modernization, expansion and improvement works of the Madrid Metro Gran Vía station with a work budget of more than 10 million euros.

BAC has completed the inspection, surveillance and control works of the “Modernization and Implementation of Lifts in the Gran Vía Station of the Madrid Metro” works, financed 50% with ERDF funds. These works have represented a great change in the structure of the station that now has a vertical axis with connections between the three new levels, L1, L5 and Cercanías.

The president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, has inaugurated the new station, which is the most modern of the suburban network in terms of technology and accessibility. “It will be the first 4.0 station in Spain and is, therefore, also one of the pioneering stations in Europe.” About 66,000 passengers are expected to pass daily through the station.

The works, which have lasted for almost three years, have been coordinated by Metro de Madrid, the Directorate General of Infrastructure and Adif, which have collaborated together to launch one of the most ambitious projects in recent years, which connects the Puerta del Sol axis (with Metro and Cercanías-Renfe) and Gran Vía, two emblematic spaces of the Madrid capital.

Great job Almudena Vecino, Ricardo Planchuelo, Dámaso Picazo and Adrián Abad, with the support of the BAC technical office.
