Project summary
The objective of the project is to implement a tram line along Avenida Diagonal in Barcelona, connecting the squares of Francesc Macià and Glòries, as well as the Trambaix and Trambesòs lines that are already in operation.
The first phase of the works is currently underway, covering the implementation of the tramway along Avenida Diagonal from Plaça Glòries (including the connection with the Trambesòs line) to Carrer Girona.
Project details
The first phase of the project, which is currently underway, aims to establish a provisional connection between Plaça Francesc Macià and Plaça Glòries by implementing an extension of the Trambesòs tram network. This new branch will run from Plaça Glòries along Diagonal to Carrer Girona, and the operation of the lines already in service will be restructured.
In addition, this first phase includes the redevelopment of Avinguda Diagonal, from Carrer Girona to Plaça Glòries, where the implementation of the tramway will be integrated with the Parc de Canòpia project and a new intermodal station will be built to connect the tramway with the metro network and the city bus lines.
